The aim of TelePeriOP is to improve digital interaction between patients and doctors before planned operations. This hybrid, virtual communication is being tested in a study with 150 surgery patients.

A CE-certified expert system is being further developed for this purpose. Patient data is recorded from home via an app. The information is supplemented by telemedicine, including information about anesthesia and surgery. Short explanatory videos in several languages support patients with information and communication. On-site appointments are only scheduled if further examinations are necessary or the telemedical consultation is not sufficien

The project is being led by the University Hospital of Würzburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS. It brings together clinical, technical, ethical and economic experts.
